Tryout Guidelines

Each title has different aptitudes and skillsets required for collegiate competitive success. Accordingly the formats vary across title to title. See below for specific information on your title's tryout format and schedule.

Our Tryout Schedules

Valorant

The tryout format will be two days of online tryouts hosted via our Esports & Gaming Discord Server

Players can expect to be shuffled into randomized arrangements of players to assess agent/role competencies and team fit. Players needing to utilize the Alienware PCs within the Esports & Gaming lounge to complete tryouts are welcome to do so and advised to bring their own peripherals for optimum comfort and performance (though we have peripherals there for you to use if you prefer ours).

This will be an Varsity supported team competing in the Open Premier division of the NACE Starleague Spring 2024 Split.

Super Smash Bros

The tryout format for this title will reflect its hybrid status in the Spring of 2024. The first day of tryouts will be an online double-elimination tournament in the standard competitive format where the applicant will compete against the other applicants. The second day of tryouts will be an offline in-person tournament hosted within the Bridwell Activity Center. The applicant will complete against other applicants in a round-robin gauntlet as well as the local and greater smash community within the Texoma PR region within a double-elimination bracket.

We strongly encourage students who do not have a LAN adaptor to participate within the Esports & Gaming Lounge to control for lag in the online lobby. If you have serial connectivity concerns, you may be disqualified from the bracket and alternative methods to demonstrate your online proficiency will be determined.
